"I just don't know what to do..."
So many conversations lately end with this statement - "I just don't know what to do". The drastic cuts to international aid funding by the US government is having an impact across the world.
Until recently, the US led the world in foreign assistance, by
sharing just 1% of it's federal budget to international aid. The recent
freeze in funding by the US government has disrupted essential services
like healthcare, food and education for millions of people living in the
developing countries.
Around the world, millions of girls are denied the basic right to an education. They face barriers like poverty, discrimination, early marriage, and lack of schools. And yet, we know this truth: when girls are educated, entire communities thrive.
An educated girl is less likely to marry young and more likely to lead a healthier, more prosperous life. She’s more likely to educate her own children, break the cycle of poverty, and contribute to her community in powerful ways.
But none of this is possible without access—without books, schools, teachers, and most importantly, support.
If you don't know what to do in this moment of the US relinquishing it's leadership role in supporting access to education in the developing world, I invite you to join me and the Circle of Sisterhood in keeping the work of access to education for women and girls alive.
Rooted in the belief that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty and oppression, the Circle of Sisterhood works to ensure that every girl—no matter where she’s born—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach her full potential.
Through fundraising, service, and awareness campaigns, the Circle of Sisterhood supports efforts like building schools, providing scholarships, supplying educational materials, and empowering communities. Together, we can create a world where women are uplifted, voices are heard, and opportunities are equal.
One circle. One mission. Countless lives changed through education. Please give today!
